A imagen y semejanza (2018)

Instalación: Fotografía 110×65 cm, 2 fotografías de 4×2 cm, repisa y lupa.

El trabajo consiste en una reinterpretación del cuerpo femenino, a partir de dos fotografías, la primera corresponde a una indígena Yagana (1882-1883) y la segunda a una postal erótica de una mujer blanca europea (circa 1880), ambas comparten la misma pose. Estas referencias nos muestran una idea en torno al deseo y la representación de la feminidad. La reinterpretación es encarnada por el cuerpo del artista, quien posa feminizado en un retrato a escala y constituye, a imagen y semejanza, una tercera “mujer”. La instalación se despliega con la fotografía de mayor tamaño en la que vemos al artista y las dos fotografías en miniatura puestas en las pinzas metálicas de una lupa de estudio. Este elemento busca reforzar la mirada que recae sobre estos cuerpos, acentuando una mirada cientificista y fetichista. La obra busca relacionar la construcción del deseo por el cuerpo femenino con el pudor impuesto sobre el mismo desde la colonialidad del género.

This work consists on a reinterpretation of the female body by means of two photographs. The first one being a Yagán indigenous woman (1882-1883) and the second one to an erotic postcard of a white European woman (circa 1880), both sharing the same pose. These references show us an idea around the desire and the representation of femininity. The reinterpretation is embodied by the artist’s own body, who poses in a feminine way on a scale and constitutes, to her image and likeness, a third “woman”. The installation is displayed starting with the biggest photograph, in which we see the artist, and the two other miniature photographs, placed in the metallic pliers of a studio magnifier. These elements seek to reinforce the gaze upon the bodies, accentuating a scientific and fetishistic view. The work seeks to relate the construction of the desire for the feminine body with the shyness imposed over the same body since the colony of the gender.
