La Ocupación de la Araucanía o Pacificación de la Araucanía (1861-1883) fue una serie de campañas militares, acuerdos y penetraciones del ejército chileno y de colonos en territorio Mapuche que condujeron a la incorporación de la Araucanía al territorio nacional chileno. La mal llamada “Pacificación de la Araucanía” fue la expresión utilizada por las autoridades chilenas para esta guerra.
Durante este período de guerra y hasta el día de hoy, los hongos son una fuente de alimentación muy importante para las comunidades Mapuche. Este saber ha persistido, en algunas comunidades que han transmitido su conocimiento de generación en generación, técnicas para recolectarlos correctamente, sin dañar el micelio para que siga fructificando, con respeto al otro, sin infligir daño alguno.
Mapu Kufüll (mariscos terrestres) es la forma de designar a los hongos en el mapudungun y también el nombre de este ‘cuento’ animado que reflexiona sobre la perspectiva cosmológica del pueblo mapuche en relación con la recolección de hongos y cómo éstos han sido un símbolo de resistencia para las comunidades.

MAPU KUFÜLL (LAND SEAFOOD, 2020)
The Occupation of Araucanía or Pacification of Araucanía (1861–1883) was a series of military campaigns, agreements and penetrations by the Chilean army and settlers into Mapuche territory which led to the incorporation of Araucanía into Chilean national territory. Pacification of Araucanía was the expression used by the Chilean authorities for this war and acculutaration of the territories of the indigenous Mapuche.
During this period of war and until today, mushrooms are a very important source of food for Mapuche communities, so the grandparents teach the children the techniques to collect them correctly, without damaging the mycelium so that it continues to fructify, with respect to the other of not inflicting damage.
Mapu Kufüll (land seafood) is the Mapudungun name for mushrooms and also the name of this animated ‘story’ that reflects on the cosmological perspective of the Mapuche people in relation to mushroom picking and how mushrooms have been a symbol of resistance.
