The inheritance of repeating the same mistake
2014
Sound installation: Wood, varnish, blackboard paint, chalk, light and sound recording, 1,5×2 meters.
“La herencia de repetir siempre el mismo error” is a sound installation of a children’s club house, intervened with children drawings and tales about the learning of a prejudice that is taught by their parents through the idea of discriminating against ethnical, racial, religious and sexual minorities. The work is the evidence itself of how ignorance and discrimination is socially inscribed, generation after generation, given that the children stories –highly sexist, racist and xenophobic- have their own origin in a previous speech, inherited by their parents during the children’s upbringing.
